 In a historic development for Pakistan’s higher education sector, the University of Sargodha (UoS) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Hainan Leyin Investment Co. Ltd. to establish an international campus and an international hospital in Sanya, Hainan Province, China.
‎According to details, this partnership makes UoS the first Pakistani university to launch a campus in China, marking a significant step forward in strengthening academic, research and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
‎The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas alongside senior officials of Hainan Leyin Investment. The Chairman of the company warmly welcomed the UoS delegation and expressed full support for the establishment of both the campus and the hospital.
‎Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas expressed gratitude for the collaboration, terming it a major milestone in Pakistan–China educational relations. He appreciated the longstanding partnership between the two nations and invited the Chinese delegation to visit UoS, a gesture that was warmly received.
‎Furthermore, a UoS delegation led by the Vice Chancellor inspected the proposed land in Sanya City for the establishment of the international campus. The team reviewed the site’s suitability, surrounding infrastructure and development potential, expressing confidence in Sanya’s strategic importance as an emerging hub for international education and innovation.
‎During the visit, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said that setting up a UoS campus in Hainan would significantly enhance the university’s global outreach while promoting collaborative research and academic partnerships.
